Welcome to The Pantry

University of Winchester’s first refill shop! - The Pantry opened in the West Downs Centre in January 2022 with the mission to reduce the amount of single-use plastic used on campus and around Winchester. We opened The Pantry with the aim of selling eco-friendly and sustainable products and allowing customers to reuse containers they already own. We sell most items you would expect at a supermarket – including dry food, fruit & vegetables, bakery products, household cleaning products and toiletries. We use gravity and scoop dispensers to reduce the need for individual packaging and our customers can bring their own containers to refill e.g. tupperware containers.

How Does it Work?

Simply bring your own containers and fill them with your chosen products. It could be an old coffee jar, some old Tupperware containers or a new kilner jar that you bought just for this occasion. All our refill products are sold by weight and you can buy as little or as much as you like: stock up with spaghetti for the month or take a teaspoon of turmeric for a single recipe - it's up to you!
